NLC President Ajaero Confirms Death Of General Secretary Emmanuel Ugboaja

The General Secretary of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Comrade Emmanuel Ugboaja, has died at the age of 60. Ugboaja reportedly died on Saturday, August 22, 2026, after a prolonged battle with leukaemia, according to sources close to the labour leader. One of the sources said news of his death was only communicated widely several days later. “He died on Saturday, but we don't know why they are only informing us now. However, reliable information confirmed that he died on Saturday,” the source said. “He battled with leukemia for close to four years.”
