A 38-year-old man was arrested by Sholighur police in Ranipet on Thursday for reportedly drilling a hole in a Tasmac outlet at Pandiyanallur village near Sholighur town a few days ago.

A 38-year-old man was arrested by Sholighur Police in Ranipet on Thursday for drilling a hole at a TASMAC outlet at Pandiyanallur village near Sholighur town a few days ago.The arrested person was identified as B. Kumar, a native of Gingee in Villupuram district. He has cases registered against him in several police stations in Villupuram and Cuddalore districts.Initial inquiry revealed that salesman K. Rajan, 42, opened the outlet around noon on Monday. When he went inside the shop, he found a hole had been drilled on the wall to gain access to the stocks in the shop. However, the staff found racks of liquor bottles safe. The CCTV cameras fixed inside the outlet and the hard disk were also not damaged.Immediately, they alerted the Sholighur police. The police gathered CCTV footage along the route where the shop was located. A case was registered. The police arrested the suspect from his hideout in Gingee after tracking CCTV footage and mobile phone signals. Later, he was lodged in Central Prison, Vellore. A probe is under way.
