Sokolowski / Imagn ImagesBy The Athletic StaffAug. 27, 2026 Updated 10:48 am EDTWe now know when Kyle Lowry’s No. 7 is heading to the rafters in Toronto.The Raptors announced Thursday that they will retire Lowry’s jersey at Scotiabank Arena on Jan. 10 after Toronto hosts the Philadelphia 76ers.Lowry, a Philadelphia native, spent his final two-plus NBA seasons with the 76ers but was a six-time All-Star with the Raptors from 2012 to 2021. Alongside Kawhi Leonard, he helped lead Toronto to its only NBA title in 2019.Lowry’s No. 7 will join Vince Carter’s No. 15 as the only retired jerseys in Raptors history.Lowry, who started his career with stints in Memphis and Houston, left Toronto in 2021 and played two-plus seasons with the Miami Heat before being acquired by Philadelphia. He signed a one-day contract to retire as a Raptor in July, with the franchise saying at the time that a jersey retirement would come during the 2026-27 season.The 40-year-old Lowry ended his career after his 20th NBA season, making him the 12th player to hit that milestone. He and Chris Paul are the only 6-foot-and-under guards in that club.“I’ve been looking forward to this moment for years. I always said that Toronto is home, and that I’d retire a Raptor, and to see my No. 7 go up in that building is going to mean everything to me,” Lowry said in a statement. “We built something special here — my teammates, the organization, the city and the fans and all of Canada. We became champions together, and to be able to share this night with all of them, and with my family, is going to mean a lot to me.”
