The Andhra Pradesh Capital Region Development Authority (APCRDA) has approved infrastructure works worth ₹1,437 crore in 29 villages of the Amaravati capital region, along with proposals for drinking water, roads, institutional development, mixed-use projects, and green-energy infrastructure.Municipal Administration and Urban Development (MA&UD) Minister P. Narayana announced the decisions taken at the 65th APCRDA meeting, chaired by Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu at the Secretariat on Thursday.Of the ₹1,437 crore approved for infrastructure works, ₹904 crore had already been sanctioned, while an additional ₹533 crore was cleared at the meeting, including land-to-land arrangements for trunk roads. Works would cover roads, underground drainage, drinking-water pipelines and streetlights.The authority also approved strengthening of the drinking water network in the capital villages. Residents currently receive around 40 litres each per day (Litres Per Capita Day) against the prescribed 135 litres. The existing pipelines would be replaced and upgraded to meet the requirement, he said.Mr. Narayana said ₹596 crore had been approved for a centralised public library, auditorium and human resource buildings at Sakhamuru. Based on the recommendations from the Central Road Research Institute and IIT-Kharagpur, the authority also approved BT roads instead of cement-concrete roads in village layouts, including roads narrower than 54 feet.Water for MangalagiriThe CRDA also cleared the supply of 30 million litres of drinking water per day to Mangalagiri against a projected future requirement of 80 MLD.It also decided to prepare a draft master plan for a district cooling system and invite proposals for mixed-use development on 42 acres across Pichukalapalem, Tulluru, Mandadam and Kuragallu.The meeting approved 8.5 acres for a deemed university of the National Institute of Electronics and Information Technology and permitted an MoU with the Indian Oil Corporation Ltd. for green energy infrastructure.Land between the proposed Inner Ring Road and railway corridors at Kantheru and Tadikonda would be acquired through land pooling. Mr. Narayana said eligible farmers whose lands were newly brought under pooling system could receive a farm-loan waiver of up to ₹1 lakh, subject to conditions.
