Attorney Abbe David Lowell called the mortgage fraud allegations "untried and unproven" and said neither act cited by the White House constitutes cause under the Federal Reserve Act

Federal Reserve Governor Lisa Cook's attorney responded Wednesday to President Donald Trump's renewed bid to oust her, delivering a five-page letter to the White House that dismissed the mortgage fraud allegations as resting "on untried and unproven allegations of criminal wrongdoing."
"Governor Cook has never committed mortgage fraud or any intentional wrongdoing, and there is no legally cognizable cause for removing her from the Federal Reserve Board," Attorney Abbe Lowell wrote, directing the letter to White House counsel David Warrington.
