Irish actor Barry Keoghan will reprise his role as Jonny McGee from the hit crime drama Top Boy in a new series for Netflix. Jonny Boy will see the Oscar-nominated Dubliner explore the character’s origin story in a five-episode prequel show.Filming is scheduled to begin in 2027. The series has been written by Belfast-born Ronan Bennett with Ali Abbasi directing.The fifth and final series of Top Boy was released in 2023.It was set in the London criminal underworld and featured the double act of Irish gangsters played by Barry Keoghan and Brian Gleeson. Top Boy originally aired on Channel 4 but was cancelled after two seasons before Netflix revived it.
