According to reports from Korean media outlets, Ha Young's great-grandfather was identified by online users as Dr. Ahn Sang-ho, who graduated from Tokyo Zaisei Medical School in 1902 and became the first Korean to obtain a Japanese medical license.
However, Ahn has also been cited by some historians and organizations as a figure suspected of collaborating with Japan during the colonial period. The Institute for Joint Research on Korean History pointed to his participation in activities linked to Japanese colonial authorities, including involvement in organizations that promoted Korean-Japanese integration.
The controversy has reportedly cast a shadow over SBS' upcoming drama 'There Is a Chance,' which is scheduled to premiere in the first half of 2027. Ha Young stars as Yeo Sim-hee, a hardworking rookie lawyer who grows professionally under the guidance of an eccentric office manager with the ability to foresee future events.
