Elon Musk on Wednesday encouraged an X user to test Grok Bot with access to personal finances, saying his company would cover the user if the artificial intelligence agent made a mistake.
Musk Backs Grok Bot With Bold Pledge
"Try it out. If Grok Bot messes up, we will make you whole," Musk wrote Wednesday after a popular Tesla Inc. (NASDAQ:TSLA) and Space Exploration Technologies Corp. (NASDAQ:SPCX) account in Teslaconomics said he was considering connecting Grok Bot to a bank account to track spending, move money, pay bills and flag unusual charges. The user said his partner strongly opposed giving an AI that level of access.
The exchange comes barely two weeks after SpaceXAI launched Grok Bot in beta on Aug. 11. SpaceXAI describes the product as a team of "always-on" agents with cloud computers that can sign into websites, work across apps and complete jobs before returning when human approval is needed.
SpaceXAI specifically lists expense management among Grok Bot’s uses. Its documentation also recommends requiring approval for purchases and financial transfers.
