He is Oliver Glasner’s side’s fifth signing of the summer after the arrivals of Diomande, Gustavo Sa, Xaver Schlager and Steven Benda. On joining Forest, Delap said: “I really can’t wait to get started, this is a massive club with a big history. I spoke to the manager and I like his way, I think he can be the one to really help me develop and make that next step and hopefully I can bring goals here.“I can’t wait to hear the noise at The City Ground and have the fans on my side because I know how loud and important they are. As a team we can build something really strong and the main aim is to challenge and be a top club in the Premier League.”Delap was not included in Chelsea’s squad for their 3-2 win over Fulham on Monday and had been training separately from the rest of Xabi Alonso’s squad, with his No 9 shirt also given to Joao Pedro before his departure. The 23-year-old signed for Chelsea last year for €40m after scoring 12 Premier League goals for Ipswich. His campaign was disrupted by injury and found the net just once in the league. In 47 appearances in all competitions, Delap scored three goals and provided five assists. His Chelsea exit comes with the club trying to resolve a logjam at striker behind first-choice Joao Pedro, with Nicolas Jackson and Marc Guiu also candidates to leave after the arrival of Danny Welbeck.
