Troops of Sector 2, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have rescued a kidnapped woman and disrupted a planned ransom exchange in Danko-Wasagu Local Government Area of Kebbi State.
The operation followed credible intelligence on a planned ransom payment for the woman, who was abducted from her farm last month, the acting spokesperson for the troops, Lt Col Olaniyi Osoba, said.
Osoba, in a statement made available to our correspondent on Thursday, said the troops swiftly mobilised to intercept the transaction, adding that the terrorists attempted to engage the advancing troops after sighting them.
According to him, the troops’ superior firepower forced the criminals to retreat in disarray, leaving the hostage behind.
“The engagement forced the criminals to retreat in disarray, abandoning the hostage, who was subsequently secured by our troops,” Osoba said.
