The number of confirmed deaths caused by horrific flooding in the Himalayas in north-central Nepal, on the border with China, has risen to 160.Nepalese police said they had recovered 157 bodies during search operations on Wednesday, according to the Associated Press, Agence France-Presse and other news outlets.Chinese state broadcaster CCTV earlier reported that three people had died in the nearby region of Tibet, bringing the combined death toll to 160.

The Nepal Tourism Board said 403 people were missing, including 341 foreign nationals, while 28 police officers weren’t responding to calls.China reported that 265 people were missing on its side of the border.Nine Korean employees of Korea South-East Power and Doosan Enerbility are also missing near the construction site of a hydropower plant.The Korean government plans to urgently dispatch a joint rapid response team comprising officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the National Fire Agency and the National Police Agency.Entire villages were swept away in the floods and landslides, and at least 19 bridges were washed away.
