The spokesperson for Qatar’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced on Wednesday, August 26, that Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, the country’s prime minister, will travel to Tehran tomorrow, Thursday.
Majed Al-Ansari shared the news in a post on the X platform, writing that the Qatari prime minister will meet with several Iranian officials during the visit to discuss ways to reduce tensions and foster a framework for dialogue.
According to the Qatari Foreign Ministry spokesperson, the visit aligns with Doha’s firm stance that diplomacy remains the best avenue for resolving disputes and enhancing regional security and stability.
Al-Ansari also stated that the consultations will address the issue of freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz, with Qatar emphasizing the necessity of restoring conditions to their pre-U.S.-Israel war status with the Islamic Republic.
