Nvidia's earnings and guidance, along with developments in the Middle East, set the tone for trading in Asia on Thursday, with equity markets mixed as investors cautiously cheered the robust results.
The U.S. chip maker, widely seen as a bellwether for the artificial-intelligence spending spree, reported record sales of $96.2 billion for the quarter ended in July, beating analysts' expectations.
On a call, Nvidia Chief Financial Officer Colette Kress offered guidance of 70% revenue growth in the company's 2028 fiscal year. This handily beat the 45% growth that analysts polled by FactSet had projected.
"Nvidia crushed everywhere," said technology analyst Luke Lango in commentary. However, the company's top-line growth momentum appears to be slowing, he said.
