Parton died after being diagnosed with cancer, her team confirmed soon after the announcement of her death.‌The death of the much-loved Country icon, behind hits including Jolene and I Will Always Love You, was revealed by her nephew, Bryan Seaver on August 25.‌In a video message that was planned by the singer, Bryan followed her wishes by announcing the sad news. Amid the singer's illness, which was described as a "brief" battle, she did a heartbreaking interview with People and made a video appearance at the Academy Country Music Honours to accept an award.‌In the interview, which was released on 21 August, just six days before her death was announced, Dolly shared that she had been having some health issues. "I am dealing with some health issues that I just didn't pay attention to when I was watching over Carl."But she insisted that she still had some fight left in her, adding: "You know me, as I've often said, I've dreamed myself into a corner and I still have so many things I want to achieve."‌Dolly Parton will be laid to rest at Woodlawn Memorial Park beside her husband of nearly 60 years, Carl Dean.Dean was entombed at the park's mausoleum after his death in 2025, and Dolly will be taking the spot next to him.
