President Donald Trump and Vice President JD Vance are expected to address the GOP’s midterm convention in Dallas next month as Republicans look to energize voters ahead of November’s midterm elections and preserve the party's trifecta in Washington, DC.According to guidance released by the Republican National Committee on Aug. 25, Trump is set to appear for both nights of the convention, Sept. 9 and Sept. 10, and deliver remarks on the second night. The vice president is expected to speak on the convention's opening night.The RNC's guidance outlines 109 items and speakers across both days of the convention at American Airlines Center in Dallas."President Donald Trump and Republicans have delivered historic results for the American people, and every hour of this historic convention will tell that story,” Republican National Committee Chair Joe Gruters said in a news release.'Defining issues of our Party’s agenda'According to the RNC, the convention is set to highlight Trump's One Big Beautiful Bill Act, as well as the administration's efforts on fraud, healthcare affordability, immigration, trade and cultural issues."Over two action-packed days, we will take Americans through the defining issues of our Party’s agenda and what is at stake in November. Each hour will have its own theme, its own message, and its own voices, building toward President Donald Trump’s vision for the next chapter of American greatness," Gruters said.September's convention in Dallas comes as Trump and the GOP face political headwinds ahead of November’s midterm election. A Reuters/Ipsos poll released on Aug. 24 showed that the president's approval rating remained at 33% for the second straight week.That number marked the lowest approval rating the president has seen in Reuters/Ipsos tracking since his return to the White House in 2025.The GOP has also struggled in national polling.
