Ewing’s line drive around his right shoulder.Ewing shot May’s first-pitch sinker right back at him at 106 mph. The ball ricocheted off the pitcher to third base, where David Hamilton threw out Ewing at first. During a lengthy consultation with the training staff, May attempted to stretch out his right shoulder and threw a pair of warmup pitches. Eventually, the club decided to take him out of the game and replace him with lefty Robert Gasser.
