Shares of technology companies rose modestly amid anxiety ahead of artificial-intelligence bellwether Nvidia's earnings.
Nvidia shares ticked down as traders awaited updates on its fast-growing revenue and equally fast-growing capital-expenditure budget.
"The key overhang is the unusual scale and limited transparency of more than $1 trillion of guided [computing capacity]-related financing through creative structures in the ecosystem," said credit analysts at brokerage Morgan Stanley.
Shares of Salesforce rallied after it struck a joint-venture deal with AI firm Anthropic.
