Simla, August 26: A communique stays: — With the object of obtaining some idea of what suitable material for the army is to be found in Indian universities, a sub-committee of the Indian Sandhurst Committee, consisting of Lieut-General Sir Andrew Skeen, Chairman, Dr. Ziauddin Ahmed and Captain Bala Sahib Dafle, recently made a tour of representative universities in all parts of India.Bombay, Poona, Madras, Calcutta, Benares and Allahabad universities were visited.The Punjab University could not be seen on this occasion as its vacation is now in progress.During the course of this tour, it became apparent that the method of obtaining entrance to officer ranks was still comparatively little known in spite of the announcements on the subject which have appeared in the press from time to time.
