​Los Angeles, US, Aug 26 (EFE).- British actor and comedian Tim Curry, known for playing Dr. Frank-N-Furter in the cult classic The Rocky Horror Picture Show” (1957) and Pennywise in “It” (1990), died on Tuesday night at 80. ​Curry, who had been suffering from serious health problems since he had a severe stroke in 2021, died at his home in Los Angeles, according to a report Wednesday by TMZ. ​Born in Cheshire, England, in 1946, he began his career in London’s West End before making the big leap to Hollywood in the 1960s. ​However, it wasn’t until 1975 that he rose to fame in the film “The Rocky Horror Picture Show,” where he played a cross-dressing scientist determined to create the perfect man. Among other of his famous Hollywood roles were Wadsworth, the butler in Clue (1985), the Hotel Plaza concierge in “Home Alone 2: Lost in New York,” Jigsaw in “Loaded Weapon 1,” and as Long John Silver in “The Muppet Treasure Island,” Dr. Yevgeniy Petrov in “The Hunt for Red October” and Cardinal Richelieu in “The Three Musketeers, ” among others. In 2025, he published his memoir “Vagabond,” in which he looks back on his five-decade career and shares details about the stroke he suffered in 2012. Throughout his extensive career, Curry received three Tony Award nominations and, in 1994, an Emmy for his role as Captain Hook in the series “Peter Pan and the Pirates.” EFE mvg/mcd
