Atiku Abubakar, former Vice President and presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), and the All Progressives Congress (APC) have clashed over the former vice-president’s allegation that those in power “stole the economy” after allegedly stealing the 2023 election.
Atiku, who is challenging President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election, accused the APC-led administration of worsening the country’s economic hardship, declaring that the coming election would be a battle against those who had allegedly “stolen everything.”
The former vice-president made the allegation in a video shared on his social media platform while addressing supporters on Tuesday night.
“We are competing with thieves. They stole the election. Now they have stolen the economy. They have stolen everything,” Atiku said.
He also renewed his pledge to restore the petrol subsidy if elected in 2027, dismissing suggestions that his position had been contradicted by Paul Ibe, one of his aides.
