A backyard boozer has been crowned Britain's Pub Shed of the Year after its owners spent £25,000 building the at-home sports bar.Decked out in wall-to-wall orange Wolverhampton Wanderers shirts and memorabilia, Tina and Rich Hibbs have spent years designing their garden bar exactly to their liking. The incredible personal public house at their home in Rugeley, Staffordshire, also boasts a Pac-Man arcade machine, a big screen TV, a fully-stocked bar with lager and cider on draft as well as traditional pub benches and tables.But the time and effort the couple put into their labour of love - fondly known as Hibby's - has been rewarded after it was named Pub Shed of the Year 2026, beating over 1,000 other entries. Mother-of-two Mrs Hibbs said: 'We were really shocked to win, just gobsmacked, we didn't expect it.'When I entered my husband just said: "What have you gone and done that for?"'Obviously he believed we'd have no chance of winning.'I thought we had just as good a chance as everyone else but with 1,088 entries I knew it was a long shot.' The husband and wife began their project with the help of a friend back in 2018 Inside, the couple have a selection of draft beers, signed football shirts and a table donated from a local pubShe added that the family were gathered at Hibby's when they found out they had won the coveted prize on Saturday night - the perfect place to celebrate the victory. The 48-year-old said: 'Our friends love it, I'm not sure about our neighbours but we've not had any complaints.'The shed does get more attention than the house!'The husband and wife began their project with the help of a friend back in 2018 and have seen it slowly evolve into the award-winning pub it is today.It was originally intended as a place for 57-year-old Mr Hibbs - a retired skip company owner - to escape to so he could watch his beloved Wolves play.Mrs Hibbs continued: 'It was initially a bolthole for hubby to escape and watch the football in peace and to display his vast collection of Wolves memorabilia.'We also wanted a place where the family could all get together and a safe place for the kids to play outside. After the shell was built we've slowly added to it over the years.'We have a friend who runs a business making these, so he helped out with the shell while the interior was all done by us.' While inside, the couple have a selection of draft beers, signed football shirts and a table donated from a local pub.Mrs Hibbs said: 'The bar has since evolved into the perfect place to cater for large occasions for both family and friends.'Now, the family host events at Hibby's including an Easter egg hunt and a Halloween party. 'We also have our Christmas dinner in there, I usually cater for about 15 people each year.'With two daughters and five grandchildren it is the perfect place to host birthday parties and special occasions, with the play area a particular favourite with the young ones,' she said. 'Purposely there is no clock or traditional bell available as the bar is always open to family and friends,' Mrs Hibbs quipped.
