NEW DELHICampaigning has intensified across Delhi University (DU) ahead of the student union elections to be held in September. While prospective candidates are visiting colleges for outreach, a major chunk of campaigning has shifted online via reels due to stringent rules this year.Currently, the DU central panel comprises three post-holders from the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh-affiliated Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) and one from the Congress-backed National Students’ Union of India (NSUI).Earlier this week, the ABVP launched its ‘My DU, my manifesto’ campaign, inviting students to share their concerns, expectations, and suggestions to help shape its election manifesto. ABVP Delhi State Secretary Sarthak Sharma said, “Through this initiative, we seek to reach out to every student to understand the most pressing issues and the changes they wish to see.”The NSUI has been running a similar feedback drive, collecting over 6,000 student suggestions. NSUI Media In-charge Ravi Pandey said, “We started the ‘May I Help You’ campaign across DU to ensure every newcomer receives the necessary support, guidance, and assistance.”Meanwhile, All India Students’ Association is focusing its social media messaging on continuity, highlighting how those who protested at Jantar Mantar are now fighting for campus issues. Akshat, a prospective AISA candidate, has been campaigning for metro concession passes and the rollback of the National Education Policy (NEP).AAP’s relaunched student wing, the Association of Students for Alternative Politics (ASAP), announced its prospective candidates, including a visually-impaired student representing disabled peers facing accessibility barriers.Strict guidelines this year permit a maximum of five students per college for non-disruptive campaigning, while vehicle use has been heavily restricted.
