Jesse Grant / Getty ImagesAug. 26, 2026 3:06 pm EDT Updated ATLANTA — On Wednesday, NFL owners voted unanimously to approve the sale of the Seattle Seahawks to Vinod and Neeru Khosla.The vote was part of a special league meeting held almost exclusively for that purpose.On July 11, the Seahawks announced the Paul G. Allen estate had reached an agreement with the Khoslas to sell the franchise for an NFL record $9.612 billion. The team had been operated by Allen’s sister, Jody, since his death in 2018.The Seahawks are the third NFL team to sell in the past decade, following Carolina’s $2.275 billion sale to David Tepper in 2018 and the Commanders going to Josh Harris for approximately $6 billion two years ago.Vinod and Neeru Khosla were born in India and immigrated to the U.S. to continue their education and eventually launch careers as entrepreneurs. Vinod is considered one of the most influential innovators and investors in Silicon Valley. He was an early investor in Google and has made a number of investments in AI. Neeru Khosla, who met Vinrod in India when the two were children, earned two master’s degrees, including one in molecular biology. Neeru will be the controlling owner of the Seahawks; their son, Neal, is expected to have a major role in the team.
