ANALYSIS — With two months to go before Election Day, Democrats continue to have the advantage in the fight for the House as Inside Elections shifts its race rating of seven more districts in the party’s favor.
Some of the movement affects the current contours of the House battleground.
The contest for California’s 21st District, represented by Democrat Jim Costa, moves from Likely Democratic to Solid Democratic and off the list of competitive races as Republicans focus their resources elsewhere.
And three open races for GOP-held seats enter battleground territory, shifting from Solid Republican to Likely Republican: Kentucky’s 6th District (represented by Andy Barr), Nevada’s 2nd (Mark Amodei) and South Carolina’s 1st (Nancy Mace).
While the House battleground typically includes a disproportionately high number of seats held by one party in wave election years, things are remarkably symmetrical across the current list of districts to watch.
