The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command said it has identified and taken into custody officers who allegedly extorted a businessman.

The officers, according to the businessman, extorted N40,000 from him along the Wuye–Utako Road, near Salem Church, Abuja.

In a viral video, the businessman said the officers stopped his vehicle and accused him of covering his car number plate, an allegation he denied.

He said the officers demanded a N50,000 bribe, adding that he negotiated it down to N40,000.

In a statement, the FCT police command said the attention of the Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Sanusi, was drawn to the video, prompting an investigation into the allegations.
