However, the deal is currently off, with Crystal Palace stepping up negotiations to sign the 22-year-old Ecuador defender.Ordonez fractured his metatarsal during the World Cup and would not be available to play at the start of this season, leading to concerns from Villa over the injury and recovery timeframe.
Villa have had bids rejected for Southampton defender Taylor Harwood-Bellis, with the two clubs remaining apart in valuation for the 24-year-old. Villa had offered £18m plus add-ons and then made an improved offer, which was still below the Championship club’s asking price. This has led to Villa deciding on alternatives in the position, with Todibo prominent on the club’s shortlist. The 26-year-old joined West Ham in 2025 from Nice and has made 54 appearances for the club, but is available to depart following the east London club’s relegation to the Championship this year.Earlier this month, Villa completed the season-long loan signing of Aaron Wan-Bissaka from West Ham. The agreement is for a season-long loan with the option to buy, which becomes an obligation if a number of conditions are met over the course of the campaign.
