A Košice beautician has resigned as chair of the supervisory board of one of Slovakia’s largest energy suppliers after questions emerged about her qualifications – and her husband’s role in a police case involving the leader of the Hlas governing party.
Marcela Martonová stepped down from Energetika Slovensko on Wednesday, 26 August, citing media attention and saying she wanted to protect her family’s privacy and prevent further polarisation.
The Economy Ministry, which is controlled by Hlas and nominated her for the post, accepted her resignation with immediate effect.
