Squishy toys can burst open under heat, pressure or wear, releasing gel or beads that may irritate skin or pose a choking risk. The Consumer Product Safety Commission has stopped 355,683 counterfeit squishy toys at U.S. ports so far, and warns that toys failing to meet safety standards can pose chemical exposure, inhalation or ingestion hazards.
Consumer Reports outlined six ways parents can reduce the risk these toys pose at home, so families can enjoy them more safely.
