Governor Uba Sani has stated his determination to ensure that every child of school age gets access to basic education in Kaduna State, before the end of his administration.
The Executive Chairman of Kaduna State Universal Basic Education, Mubarak Mohammed disclosed this at the Sheikh Abubakar Gumi Market on Wednesday where he represented the governor.
The governor said: “Education is a right in Kaduna State under our administration. Basic education is free and it is not a privilege. So, it is an offence for children of school age to roam the streets during school hours.”
Speaking further, Mubarak who bemoaned the high rate of out-school-children in Northern Nigeria, commended Governor Sani for the giant strides recorded in reducing the number in Kaduna State.
“Governor Uba Sani has successfully returned more than 360,000 children back to schools. This effort has reduced the over 500,000 out-of-school children that were previously in the streets,” he said.
