ITV boss Kevin Lygo has spoken about the changes viewers saw the broadcaster undertake at the start of the year.17:02, 26 Aug 2026ITV viewers were less than impressed with the changes the broadcaster made to its daytime TV programmes this year.‌At the end of 2025, ITV confirmed a string of shake-ups would happen, with Lorraine and Loose Women both airing for 30 weeks out of the year instead of 52.‌Another change at ITV saw Lorraine's show cut in half and airing for 30 minutes instead of a full hour, along with the programme changing studios.‌Similarly, Loose Women removed its live audiences from the programme at the start of the year, with many blasting the decision.Online, one person saying it's 'Not the same' without the crowd, as another shared: "Where is the audience? It sounds flat."‌Many have expressed their thoughts that Lorraine and Loose Women could be coming to an end following the adjustments made by ITVX, reports the Daily Record.However, boss Kevin Lygo has addressed the future of daytime TV at the broadcaster and praised the 'extraordinary' job the team are doing following the changes.While at the Edinburgh TV Festival, he sealed their daytime TV show's future in five words, stating: "Yes, we'll continue with it."‌As he detailed how 'cost-effective' the shake-up has been, Kevin highlighted the importance for audiences to feel that 'live connection' each day. He finished by commentingS: "So, yeah, of course, it will continue."Currently, both Lorraine and Loose Women are off air during the summer break, with one fan-favourite announcing their exit from the programme this month.‌After over 20 years on the panel, Denise Welch confirmed she won't be returning to the ITV show in a statement on Instagram.She wrote: "I'm leaving Loose Women after the best part of 25 years on and off. I did leave for about seven years and went back in 2018, and this show has been part of mine and my family's life for well nearly a quarter of a century.Article continues below"I have the most wonderful, wonderful memories, and it's just that acting has always been my first love, and I think the thing I'm best at."She added that she is entering a 'new chapter' of her life, before thanking people who have shared stories with her.Loose Women is available to watch on ITVX.
