A four-storey building collapses while excavation work is under way at an adjacent construction site in Vani Nagar in Tirupati on Wednesday.

A four-storey commercial building collapsed, reportedly following excavation work at an adjacent construction site in Vani Nagar, near M.R. Palli Junction in Tirupati, on Wednesday afternoon.People working in shops and offices in the building noticed sudden cracks and rushed out. Three persons suffered minor injuries in the incident, which triggered panic among residents in the locality.According to the police, a case has been registered at the M.R. Palli police station against Nageshwara Rao, who was constructing a commercial project next to the building. The case was registered based on a complaint lodged by M. Babu, owner of the collapsed building.Mr. Babu alleged that excavation work to a depth of more than seven feet at the neighbouring site had weakened the building and caused it to collapse.
