The Telangana BJP has announced that its MLAs, MPs and MLCs, along with land-owners whose properties have been placed under the prohibited list of 22A, will stage a massive protest at Indira Park’s Dharna Chowk on September 5 and 6.The party is also prepared to “lay siege to the Assembly” if the State government fails to address grievances related to alleged anomalies in the Bhu Bharati revenue portal and 22A land records by then, BJP Legislature Party leader A. Maheshwar Reddy said on Wednesday.Addressing a press conference at the party’s State office, Mr. Reddy demanded that Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy and Revenue Minister Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy explain to the public the alleged irregularities in land transfers and transactions taking place across the State.Accusing the government of “misusing its authority”, he alleged that certain lands were being arbitrarily removed from the prohibited 22A list, while others were being added. Challenging the government to identify those responsible, he said that the Chief Minister’s dismissal of allegations of a larger conspiracy had raised further questions.Mr. Reddy said that the Congress leaders who had strongly criticised the alleged irregularities under the previous BRS government’s Dharani land portal were now facing similar accusations under the Bhu Bharati system.Demanding greater transparency, he called for the release of a White Paper detailing lands listed under Section 22A before and after 2014. He also sought a forensic audit by the CBI or a sitting judge into alleged “illegal land transfers, shell company transactions and asset dealings”.Liberation DayAt a separate press conference, former MP B. Narsaiah Goud said the BJP would organise a major public meeting at Parade Grounds on September 17 to mark Telangana Liberation Day, under the leadership of Union Ministers G. Kishan Reddy and Bandi Sanjay Kumar. He urged the government to officially observe the occasion and demanded the construction of a grand memorial for Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, a Telangana Liberation Museum, inclusion of the liberation struggle in school textbooks, and development of a Telangana Liberation tourism circuit. Martyr commemoration events would also be held at Veerabhairanpally on August 27 and Parkal ‘Amaradhama’ on September 2 as a prelude to the September 17 celebration.
