MANILA, Philippines – Senator-Judge Robin Padilla delivered a lengthy historical recount on the use of aliases during Day 19 of Vice President Sara Duterte’s impeachment trial on Wednesday.
While citing historical figures including national heroes, the Trece Martires and even former Sen. Benigno “Ninoy” Aquino Jr., who reportedly used the pseudonym “Marcial Bonifacio,” Padilla asked the prosecution panel about the relevance of aliases to the Office of the Vice President’s acknowledgment receipts.

In response, the prosecution cited the Anti-Alias Law, saying aliases are permissible as long as the person’s real identity is officially disclosed.
