(Bloomberg) — A mixed batch of economic numbers sent stocks and bonds lower, with the market awaiting Nvidia Corp.’s results for clues on whether the artificial-intelligence trade has more room to run.S&P 500 futures lost 0.1%. The yield on two-year Treasuries advanced three basis points to 4.21%. The dollar wavered. Oil fell as Iran said it reached a revenue-sharing agreement with Oman on the Strait of Hormuz.US consumer spending stalled in July and a closely watched price gauge advanced in line with expectations, giving the Federal Reserve more room to hold interest rates steady.Meantime, the economy expanded at an unrevised 1.5% pace in the second quarter, though underlying details showed stronger consumer spending and business investment than initially reported.The latest data come as long-dated yields have eased from their highest levels in years, with investors still trading cautiously amid lingering concerns about price pressures, fiscal largesse and heavy borrowing to fund the AI buildout.Corporate Highlights:Intuit Inc. sank after the tax-preparation software company gave an outlook that was weaker than expected, adding to concerns about AI-related disruption. Zoom Communications Inc. gave a sales outlook for the current quarter that was about in line with analysts’ estimates, disappointing investors hoping for a greater uplift from its expanded suite of products. Kohl’s Corp.’s turnaround attempt showed some progress after the retailer raised its annual earnings outlook, but it still doesn’t see sales growth this year. JM Smucker Co. raised its full-year outlook for sales and profit, buoyed by growth in its Uncrustables sandwiches and coffee. Bath & Body Works Inc. expects full-year sales to decline slightly less that it previously did, a sign that attempts to revive growth and turn around its business might be gaining traction. Abercrombie & Fitch Co.’s revenue topped estimates and the retailer raised its annual earnings guidance, suggesting the preppy apparel company is regaining some momentum even after another quarter of slow sales growth.
