Sharnbasva University has signed two Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with the Karnataka State Council for Science and Technology (KSCST) and the Samadhana Counselling Centre, Bengaluru, aimed at strengthening intellectual property rights (IPR) activities and introducing a certificate course in counselling.The MoU with KSCST was signed by secretary of KSCST Ashok M. Raichur and Sharnbasva University Registrar Lakshmi Patil Maka.Under this MoU, an Intellectual Property (IP) Cell will be established on the university campus.KSCST will provide technical assistance on IPR-related matters and collaborate with the university in organising workshops, training programmes and research activities aimed at creating a strong IPR ecosystem.The two institutions will also work towards protecting, promoting and enhancing research and development activities and identifying potential innovations for intellectual property registration and commercialisation.KSCST will assist the university in filing IPR registrations and conduct awareness and training programmes for students, faculty members and research scholars.The proposed IP Cell will have an executive committee with representation from both KSCST and the university.Second MoUPsychiatrist C.R. Chandrasekhar and Ms. Maka signed the MoU between Samadhana Counselling Centre and the university.The MoU provides for the immediate introduction of a 50-hour Certificate Course in Counselling under the Department of Studies and Research in Journalism and Mass Communication.The course aims to create a cadre of trained lay counsellors capable of identifying, addressing and mitigating mental health issues among students and communities in schools, colleges and in society.The course will be conducted through a hybrid or phygital mode, combining live interactive online lectures, digital learning modules and physical and practical workshops.Candidates aged 20 and above with a minimum educational qualification of SSLC are eligible to join the course. The Samadhana Counselling Centre will design the curriculum and its subject experts will conduct the classes.Vice-Chancellor Anilkumar Bidve and Dean Shivakumar Javaligi were present during the signing of the MoUs.
