A motorist stabbed a cyclist in the throat in Paris following a traffic dispute, French prosecutors have said, with the city’s mayor condemning violence against cyclists.
There has been growing concern over so-called “motorised violence” in Paris, where drivers and cyclists vie for space on the busy streets.
The stabbing took place Tuesday on the rue de Sèze in the 9th arrondissement of Paris, according to the prosecutor’s office and police.
“The two men exchanged insults, then the cyclist punched him through the window. The driver then slashed at his throat with a knife,” the office said.
Police arrested the driver who had fled the scene and opened an attempted murder investigation, it added.
