Molly Darlington/Getty ImagesAug. 26, 2026 9:28 am EDT Updated Manchester United will make a minor change to their kit for their first home game of the season against Ipswich Town, after an inadvertent breach of Premier League kit regulations against Hull City.In United’s 2-0 defeat to the newly promoted side on the opening weekend of the season, their kit featured the Premier League badge on the right-hand sleeve, but the left was blank. United’s previous agreement with DXC Technology, who had been their shirt sleeve sponsors since the 2022-23 season, has now ended.This inadvertently fell foul of league rules. The Premier League’s 2026-27 handbook contains 29 rules about ‘Players’ Identification and Strip’, spanning topics like sponsorship, shirt numbers, captain’s armbands, and preventing kit clashes with opponents and match officials.Rule M.15. reads: “The logo of the League … shall appear on the right sleeve of both home strip and alternative strip shirts.“Where the relevant strip does not bear a sponsor’s logo on the left sleeve of its shirt, a logo of the league shall appear on that sleeve as well.”For example, Chelsea and Crystal Palace’s kits for the opening round of fixtures — two other Premier League teams without a current sleeve sponsor — bore the league’s logo on both sleeves.United will rectify this by having the league badge on both sleeves when they face Ipswich Town in their first home game of the season on Sunday.
