One person was killed and five were injured in Sloviansk, Donetsk region, after a Russian airstrike hit the city center on August 26.

According to Ukrinform, the Main Department of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine in the Donetsk region reported this on Facebook.

"Sloviansk under enemy fire: one person was killed, five injured. Rescuers saved two people," the statement said.

It noted that early this morning, Russian occupying forces dropped three aerial bombs on the city center. As a result of the attack, 13 apartment buildings were damaged.

At the scene, rescuers saved two people from a partially destroyed five-story building, extinguished a fire in two auxiliary structures, and contained a fire in a local enterprise building covering an area of 800 square meters. Due to the threat of another attack, rescuers temporarily suspended firefighting operations.
