Molly Darlington/Getty ImagesAug. 26, 2026 Updated 7:30 am EDTCrystal Palace have competed the signing of Axel Disasi on a season-long loan deal from Chelsea.The Athletic reported on Friday that the two clubs were close to an agreement for the centre-back, who has not appeared for Chelsea since January 2025.The deal does not include an option or obligation to make the move permanent.“I’m very happy. The club has been going in a very good direction, so I think it was the right place for me to keep going,” Disasi said after the transfer was announced.“I know that it’s very tough to play against Palace at Selhurst Park — so I’m looking forward to being on the other side now!”

— Crystal Palace F.C. (@CPFC) August 26, 2026Disasi is Palace’s sixth signing of the summer, following the arrivals of Dwight McNeil, Anan Khalaili, Zavier Gozo, Oscar Mingueza and Takehiro Tomiyasu.

The 28-year-old spent the second half of last campaign on loan at West Ham United, starting 14 league games for the side. The Athletic reported in April that Disasi was open to joining the east London side permanently if they secured Premier League survival, but their relegation to the second tier was confirmed on the final day.Disasi joined Chelsea from Ligue 1 club Monaco in 2023 and has made 61 appearances for the side, scoring five goals. He spent the latter half of the 2024-25 season on loan with Aston Villa, where he featured 10 times. He was subsequently frozen out of the Chelsea squad to begin the following season before joining West Ham in January.Palace lost their first game of the new campaign, and their first under new manager Pierre Sage, 2-0 against Everton on Saturday. They return to action on Friday, when they host Manchester City.
