Israeli police raided a vocational training centre run by the UN agency for Palestinian refugees in annexed east Jerusalem on August 25, in a move a far-right minister said aimed to ‘remove’ the body from the site. — AFP pic First Published: Wednesday, 26 Aug 2026 6:45 PM MYT PUTRAJAYA, Aug 26 — Malaysia strongly condemned the forceful incursion and seizure by the Zionist Israeli forces of a United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) training centre in occupied East Jerusalem on August 25, describing it as an attempt to deny young Palestinians access to education and training.The Foreign Ministry, also known as Wisma Putra, said the Kalandia Training Centre in Kafr Aqab, East Jerusalem had played a pivotal role in providing vocational training for hundreds of Palestinian youth since 1952.“This action clearly demonstrates the motive of the Zionist regime to deny young Palestinians access to education and training, in violation of their human rights,” it said in a statement on Wednesday.The Kalandia Training Centre, a United Nations vocational training facility established in 1952 as UNRWA’s first training centre, provides young Palestinian refugees from the West Bank with technical and vocational training opportunities, with around 340 young people trained there each year.Wisma Putra underscored that United Nations premises are inviolable and their privileges and immunities must be respected.“The mandate of UNRWA must be protected to ensure the delivery of essential services to Palestinian refugees,” it said.Wisma Putra said Malaysia reiterated its call on the international community, particularly the United Nations Security Council, to take concrete actions to uphold international law, the UN Charter and the decisions of the International Court of Justice. — Bernama
