The disaster killed four people, damaged settlements and affected at least a dozen hydropower projects.The missing travellers include 291 foreigners and 93 Nepalese nationals, according to a statement by the Nepal Tourism Board (NTB).Among the foreign tourists, 105 are Indian nationals and 37 are non-resident Indians (NRIs). The remaining tourists are from the United States, Malaysia, the United Kingdom, South Africa, Australia and the Netherlands.The flood surged through the Bhote Koshi River at around 9 a.m. local time. It affected Rasuwa and Dhading districts along the Tibet border, as well as Nuwakot district, southwest of Kathmandu.The sudden flooding caused extensive damage to settlements along the river and affected at least a dozen hydropower projects, officials said.The Nepal Tourism Board has issued emergency contact numbers for travellers and their families seeking assistance.They can contact the toll-free number 1234, the hotline 1144 or the Tourist Police at 9851289445.
