Several people were confirmed dead and many more a missing after a flash flood swept through remote valleys in Nepal and Tibet on Wedensday.
The floodwaters washed away villages, damaged bridges and destroyed electrical infrastructure.
"There could be heavy casualties or loss of property," regional Nepali official Narendra Pariyar told Reuters on Wednesday morning. "But I cannot say for sure."
At 8 people were killed in Nepal while Chinese authorities also reported that a mudslide caused "major casualties" on the other side of the border in Tibet.
