NewsUK NewsPSNIOfficers on patrol in Belfast spotted a silver Nissan Juke driving at high speed before it rammed a police vehicle 'a number of times' and injured the officers inside, the PSNI said10:21, 26 Aug 2026Updated 10:32, 26 Aug 2026Police have arrested two men after a car that was told pull over allegedly rammed a police vehicle leaving two officers in need of hospital treatment.The incident took place just before midnight on Tuesday when cops spotted a vehicle driving at speed in the Dunmurry area of west Belfast.Officers on mobile patrol on the Glen Road spotted a silver Nissan Juke travelling at high speed and signalled for it to stop before the driver tried to force their way back onto the road, the PSNI claimed.A PSNI spokesperson said: “The officers waited for a safe location before signalling for the car to stop, after it pulled into a laneway along the Ballycolin Road,” they said.“The driver of the car, however, subsequently tried to force their way back onto the road, ramming the parked police vehicle a number of times in the process and injuring the two officers inside.“They will now be attending hospital this morning, Wednesday 26th August, for treatment to their injuries.”They said a 39-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of offences including attempted grievous bodily harm with intent, dangerous driving, driving when unfit through drink or drugs and possession of a class A controlled drug.Meanwhile, a 44-year-old man was also arrested on suspicion of possession of a class A controlled drug.Police have appealed for anyone who saw the car on Tuesday night, or who has any information which could assist, including dash-cam or other footage, to contact police using a witness appeal form at reporting.psni.police.uk/appeals, quoting reference 1771 of 25/08/26.“You can also call us on 101 or contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 or online at crimestoppers-uk.org/,” they added.Choose Daily Mirror as a 'Preferred Source' on Google News for quick access to the news you value.‌PSNIHospitalsPolice carDangerous drivingBreaking NewsBelfast
