Police have launched an investigation after an Irish couple's naked bodies were found beside a hot tub in their rented Spanish property. The couple, who were staying in the exclusive Cap Blanc neighbourhood of Cullera, a historic resort town in the Valencia region, were found dead with wounds by their teenage children on Tuesday afternoon. After coming across their bodies, the teenagers, aged 14 and 16, rushed to the homeowner for help. He immediately called emergency services, who arrived shortly. Cops are now trying to determine the cause of death, with detectives knocking on nearby doors to speak to witnesses to see if they suffered an accident or were killed. Officers reportedly noted that the water in the Jacuzzi was unusually cloudy, so they took a sample for lab testing. Local authorities have sent a social worker and a psychologist to Cullera to assist the teenagers, who are traumatised and don't speak Spanish. Local media reported that the two siblings already required additional support beyond what children their age need, even before taking into account the death of their parents. The deployment of police and homicide detectives to Cap Blanc – one of Cullera's most sought-after neighbourhoods – has caused a stir. Neighbours who had spent all day at the beach returned home only to learn of the horror that had befallen the Irish couple.Cap Blanc is built in terraces on the hillside of Faro mountain, which gives most of the homes there panoramic views of the bay. Last week, a pensioner was found dead after allegedly being accidentally left inside a minibus in Spain's soaring heat. The body of the 84-year-old man, who has not been named, was discovered in Tomares near Seville in south-west Spain as temperatures reached a high of 32C (90F).Police in Spain are investigating the death and a Civil Guard source said overnight that 'all options' were still on the table.The vehicle he was found inside is said to have been adapted to transport elderly people and is thought to belong to a local retirement home.Civil Guard officers are taking witness statements and awaiting post-mortem results before deciding whether there has been any negligence in the man's care and if arrests need to be made.Initial reports are pointing to the unnamed man being on the minibus for several hours before he was discovered on Friday – and heat exhaustion being a possible cause of death according to the first emergency calls received.
