Higher bitrate means noticeably cleaner footage
The headline feature is a new Maximum Bitrate option that lets MAX2 record at up to 200Mbps.
That number may not sound exciting if you’re new to video production, but it makes a genuine difference. Higher bitrates preserve more image data, reducing compression artifacts while retaining finer textures and details. Whether you’re skiing through fresh powder, mountain biking down rocky trails, or filming fast-moving surf, footage should look cleaner and hold up better during editing.
The new 200Mbps recording mode is available in the camera’s premium recording options, including 8K 360 video and 4K single-lens mode. Those same modes already support 10-bit color, making them ideal for creators who want maximum flexibility during post-production.
