Good Morning Britain aired a special tribute programme, following the death of Dolly Parton08:09, 26 Aug 2026Richard Madeley tears up whilst dissing Dolly Parton's deathThe hosts of Good Morning Britain have paid a heartfelt tribute to Dolly Parton.‌Ranvir Singh and Richard Madeley presented a special tribute programme on Wednesday (August 26), just hours after the announcement of Dolly's death. The country music legend's death was confirmed in a video at her request on Tuesday (August 25).‌The beloved singer-songwriter asked her nephew to post her death announcement to fans in a special video "years ago", Brian Seaver revealed. In the clip, he said: "It is an honour that is mixed with absolute pride and great sadness.‌"But sadness lies with us, not with Dolly. Dolly has lived in the light and is in the arms of Jesus." Brian ended the video by saying, "She will always love you."Tributes have flooded in from around the world, with several GMB guests also sharing their love for Dolly this morning. Not long into the live show, host Richard Madeley became emotional as he remembered meeting Dolly on the set of This Morning years ago.‌After an old clip was played, Richard said, "That was an interview via satellite, a live interview, from a few years ago. Judy and I first met Dolly on This Morning."A visibly emotional Richard then choked back tears, saying, "Excuse me," as his co-host Ranvir supported him. "Two secs," Richard said, as he tried to compose himself before continuing with his story.He then went on: "She was so funny, and halfway through the interview, she kept putting her little legs out, sticking her legs out. And I looked, and I said, 'God, you've got really small feet, haven't you?'"‌"Typical Richard Madeley!" Ranvir laughed. Richard then continued: "And [Dolly] went, 'Nothing grows in the shade, honey!'"The studio erupted into laughs, as Richard noted that he didn't think Dolly had ever said that before. "A lot of people think her one-liners were crafted, and I suppose some of them were, but that was spontaneous," the star added. "She had a real sharp wit, she was smart as a whip."‌Entertainment reporter Richard Arnold agreed: "Honed from her upbringing, absolutely. We nicknamed her the Dolly Lama amongst our group of friends because she had so many gems and pearls of wisdom."GMB viewers were quick to share their heartbreak after learning of Dolly's death and seeing Richard's emotional reaction."Richard Madeley says he once remarked live to Dolly Parton she had small feet.
