Cybercriminals are now extremely quick to exploit current trends and popular topics to trick victims into installing malware. Once again, the game “Grand Theft Auto 6” serves as a hook, this time specifically the leak of the software, whose masterminds the studio Take-Two is currently pursuing.
Cybercriminals are now offering a supposed ISO file on the internet that is said to contain the game. The ISO is 113 GB in size, as user “Golden” on X enthusiastically reports. The file name points to the leaker “Cyberleek,” who has posted gameplay videos from an unfinished “GTA 6” version online under this name: “grand.theft.auto.vi.gta.6.cyberleek.v1.287.0.lucia.repack.iso,” but those interested should steer well clear of it.
A user named “Aidas” has downloaded this file and reported on X about his findings. The ISO does not contain too many files. A screenshot shows a “vi.jpg,” a supposed “VC_redist_x64.exe,” the coveted “SetupGTAVI.exe,” and a total of eight “data<Nummer>.doi” data files. Unfortunately, the file sizes cannot be seen.
Alleged “GTA 6” Leak: ISO Full of Zeros
Aidas has therefore taken a closer look at the ISO. He states that the ISO only contains a 50 KByte virus and the remaining data is empty junk. It is literally endless zeros, so the ISO is just pumped up with meaningless content for more credibility. The X user also states that he has examined the file’s bytecode. It contains commands that add the entire “C:ackslash” drive to the Windows Defender whitelist – specifically the command powershell Add-MpPreference -ExclusionPath %SystemDrive%\. Furthermore, the software terminates all security software using taskkill -f.
