Five Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander players have been named in the 2026 AFL All-Australian team, setting a new record for First Nations representation in the game's most prestigious individual honour.Their selection was announced at the AFL Awards Night on Tuesday.The milestone breaks the previous mark of four Indigenous players selected in the 2006 All-Australian side, which included Shaun Burgoyne, Lindsay Gilbee, Adam Goodes and Andrew McLeod.The 2026 First Nations All-AustraliansWayne Milera (Adelaide Crows) earned his first blazer after a career-best year off half-back, averaging more than 25 disposals a game with elite efficiency. The 28-year-old Gunditjmara, Jardwadjali and Nurungga man backed up a career-high 34-disposal game in Round One by matching it again in Round Nine.Jarman Impey (Hawthorn) finally claimed his first All-Australian jumper in his 13th AFL season. The Yorta Yorta man was one of the competition's best rebounding defenders all year, and in Round 20 became the first Hawthorn player in history to combine 35-plus disposals with 10-plus score involvements in the same game.Noongar man Shai Bolton (Fremantle) picked up his second blazer in just his second season at the Dockers, his creativity through the midfield helping set a new club record for goal assists in a season.Yamatji, Noongar and Ngarrindjeri man Kysaiah Pickett (Melbourne) was rewarded for the second year running, growing his game beyond a small forward role to spend more time in the midfield and continuing to be one of the league's most exciting, courageous players.Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera (St Kilda), a Kokatha and Narangga man, backed up his breakout 2025 season, in which he won the Saints' best and fairest, by averaging the most disposals of any player in the competition this year.The All-Australian team is the AFL's official honour side, chosen each year by a selection panel from the best-performing players across the home-and-away season. A 46-player extended squad is trimmed down to a final team of 22, including a captain and vice-captain, and the side is announced each year at the AFL Awards night.Being named All-Australian is regarded as one of the highest individual honours in the sport, recognising consistent, elite-level performance over a full season. This year's team was captained by Melbourne's Max Gawn, who was selected for a record ninth time.The five First Nations selections come from five different clubs, reflecting the depth of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander talent across the competition and continuing a long history of Indigenous excellence at the top level of Australian football.
