To reduce the need for the general public to frequently visit government offices in person, an app called “Vettri Tamil Nadu Super App” will be introduced, said R. Kumar, Minister for Artificial Intelligence, Information Technology and Digital Services in the Assembly on Tuesday.According to him, this will enable citizens to directly access 500 government services, including birth certificates, family cards (ration cards), and driver’s license renewals, right through their mobile phones. This will be implemented at an estimated cost of ₹5 crore. He also said that to allow the public to share their suggestions and opinions with the government, express views on government schemes, and give feedback on public services a portal called “Vetri Tamil Nadu Web Portal” will be created.Mr. Kumar added to effectively pursue the goals of the Tamil Nadu Artificial Intelligence Mission, the government will set up an Artificial Intelligence Advisory Council comprising distinguished academics and industry leaders with expertise in AI, machine learning, data science, emerging technologies, deep tech, blockchain, cloud computing, public policy, innovation, research, cybersecurity, and industry to provide expert advice.For the benefit of the public and researchers, the government will implement the second phase of the “Tamil Nadu Cultural Digital Repository.” Through this, 500 cultural sites and events across Ramanathapuram, Thoothukudi, Tirunelveli, Tenkasi, Kanniyakumari, and Pudukkottai will be documented, at an estimated cost of ₹60 lakh.
