Aug. 25 (UPI) -- The U.S. Consulate General in Tijuana issued a security alert Tuesday over threats of a potential armed attack by the criminal group Los Rusos against law enforcement facilities in Mexicali in the Mexican border state of Baja California.
The U.S. diplomatic mission suspended government activities in Mexicali and official travel to the city for the day. It urged U.S. citizens to avoid government buildings and seek shelter if an incident occurs.
The alert also advised U.S. citizens to follow instructions from Mexican law enforcement authorities, monitor local media for updates and remain aware of their surroundings.
